Camp Joy 2004

In And Around Camp Harmison
Camp Joy is held at Camp Harmison, just outside of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Once again this year we camped at the upper pavilion. We continued our tradition of going to the Hancock pool almost every day before dinner, since that way we don't have to drive back and forth to camp. Wednesday is a half-day, so that everyone can go to Cacapon State Park; it also happened to be our vespers day, so we did our service in the pavilion at the park. Kelby stopped by for the evening on Wednesday, and she took a group picture for us at Dairy Queen.

The Spielman Site
Our project was in Berkeley Springs at the home of Mr. David Spielman. All of the work was on the outside of the house. Two windows in the garage were broken, so we put in new glass and glazing. A header board from an old deck was still attached to the back of the house, so we removed it, sealed the holes in the siding, and painted it. All of the windows needed to be scraped and painted, and all of the downspouts needed to be replaced. The biggest task was the construction of a shingled roof over the front deck. The deck had been built two years ago as a CJ project, so the 4x4 posts were twisted very badly from standing out in the weather for so long. Kyle, Shawn, and Kristen and I worked on the site; Autumn stopped by for the day on Friday.
